Forging Relations between Indian Universities and Texas Instruments

Welcome to TI India University Program Website!

Texas Instruments (www.ti.com) is a major semiconductor manufacturer with a product portfolio of over 30,000 integrated circuits. Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments won the Nobel Prize for his invention of the integrated circuit in 1958. In 2008, Texas Instruments, along with the rest of the world, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the IC. The ICs from TI can be broadly categorized into:

  • Embedded Processing Platforms
  • Analog Integrated Circuits
  • Digital Light Processing (DLP) chipsets

Why study the MSP430 Microcontroller? – A Discussion

The name “MSP” is the acronym for “Mixed Signal Processor,” and “430” is a part number that has a curious origin.  The legend is that “4/30” or April 30 is the date on which the microcontroller was first released. On April 30, 2010, MSP430 completed 18 years of age.  UniTI met two leaders from Texas Instruments with the question, “Why do you think students must study the MSP430 microcontroller?” We have summarized this discussion for our readers.
